Styling For iFeet

Top: Papaya| Tulle leggings: iFeet| High tops: Reeva

A couple of Saturdays ago, I was invited by iFeet's Jake Laude and Chesca Lu to help out with make up and styling for their 13th collection. I work with Jake and he's practically a brother to me, name calling aside (YO WADDUP, DUUDE!! lol), and I absolutely adore iFeet so my response to this invitation was definitely a no brainer.

Being on a "shorts ban" wasn't such a bad thing on this day cuz I got to whip out my tulle skirt that I've been dying to wear for ages. It was perfect for moving around and running from room to room in between shots plus, I think I looked fuhn-keeeey!

I was really glad to have found this particular piece since it put a really fun twist to the whole silhouette trend that I found to be... too girly for my liking. Hooray for mixing things up! ;)

Here are pictures from that wonderful day:

I'm no make up artist but I've been to a few classes and youtube has educated me well. In my free time, I enjoy make overs with friends and I have done a few shoots in college. I think this is the only girly thing about me- my love for everything make up! :)

Isn't she gorge??

Thanks Jake and Chesca! 'Til next time!

Sinulog 2013

[White DIY shirt: Carter (P 150.00); Shorts: Folded and Hung; Leather bag: Saki]

PIT SENYOR FROM PAOLO & I!

And from these two crazy boys…

I don’t have a whole lot of Sinulog pictures. Yeah, I think I’m smarter than that. I don’t think I was willing to risk breaking my phone and the closest thing I have to a decent camera even for Sinulog. But I am proud to say that I stuck by that decision even when I was drunk and apparently, according to my friends, dancing to no music at all! HAHA.

Sinulog has definitely gotten bigger this year. The streets were more crowded and I hardly recognized anybody- but you know what they say, the bigger the better (more friends to make)! And since I wasn’t able to run into my barkada during the festivities, I stuck with Paolo and his friends from Manila and Cagayan- I’m pretty sure we showed them a good time ;)

Look who I met! And we’re still clean!

And then suddenly…

Photo

I’m pretty sure Sinulog’s been all the rave on like… every-single-networking-site so instead, I’m going to let my pictures do the talking. You can obviously tell that things went down that night. Haha.

I honestly think that I’ll be good for one more cray-cray mardi gras before I decide to hang my Sinulog whistle in a nice tidy corner (literally). But ‘til then, Sinulog 2013 was the bomb and if you haven’t partied Cebuano style, well, I don’t need to try convince you. You probably already died of jealousy already. Haha.

To next Sinulog and to Cebu!

DRESSING FOR SINULOG 2013

THE ESSENTIALS:
1. White shirt// 2. Shorts// 3. Sneakers// 4. Extra Slippers// 5. Water// 6. Cap// 7. Small but handy bag (enough to hold money, phone and/or camera, etc.)// 8. Sun Block// 9. Staple SINULOG whistle (WITH feathers// 10. Wet Wipes)

Sinulog is so close that I can literally hear it... now... as we speak. Traffic has already started in the metro and everyone I know is getting jittery over which henna tattoo they're going to get over the weekend. Yep, feels like Sinulog to me!

I've stopped going for the street dances and ditched them for the street parties and if you've decided to do the same, here is my survival guide to dressing up for Sinulog:

1. BASIC DRESSING
Top: It's been a custom to get down and dirty at the street parties. I'm talking poster paint and the occasional Boysen paint on your face, your clothes, on your thighs- EVERYWHERE. A lot of Cebuano's have decided to invest on buying custom made Sinulog shirts but since I'm too cheap to buy a new shirt to ruin, me and Paolo have decided to buy department store shirts and cut them up ourselves. But if you're too lazy, here's one top that I recommend:
Let The Mayhem Begin via

Bottoms: I really do suggest wearing shorts to beat the heat and hassle when you're out partying on the streets. Also, it makes a good excuse to bust out those tie-dyed shorts that have been all the rave lately. NO TO PANTS- unless you're Issa and you aren't allowed to wear anything else. fml, right?

As for your shoes, it's always best to wear sneakers since you're most likely to get stepped on. But it's always safe to have extra slippers in case.

2. LIGHT PACKING
Only only bring what you need. Nobody wants to party with a chunky bag to take care of. Money, phone, camera, water- CHECK, CHECK and DOUBLE CHECK!'

3. PROTECT YOUR SKIN
I don't like putting sun block on. I honestly hate it! But it's what's best for our skin so I try to abide at least once a year ;) I also like to hit the streets with a baseball cap and/ or shades. Never at the same time- preference, I suppose.

4. ACCESSORIZE, SINULOG STYLE!
Sinulog is never complete until I am fully equipped with a customized Sinulog whistle: whistle, feathers and gold sequins. It's impossible to miss these babies since they're everywhere and only run up to P50.00. If anyone tries to sell it to you for more, it's either they've become victims of SIN TAX or you my friend, have been terribly ripped off!

Those are my Sinulog dressing tips. What are yours? :)

B[l]ack to B[l]ack

First and foremost, let us all take a moment of silence to grieve over the loss of my favorite shades. (sniff*sniff) Shortly after this picture was taken, it took a dive out of my hands and well, wearing it is now completely out of the question. But, I must give it due credit, they have served me well in the past year considering that I got them for only P85.00 downtown. I love Cebu!

[Black top with silhouette back: Oxygen; Rompers worn as pants: Gaisano Tabunok; Flats: SM Department Store; Necklace: Forever 21; Shades: Downtown]

Since I recently blogged about the upcoming Fashion Forecast for 2013, I thought I’d give it a go and wore black on black. Of course, you don’t have to wear one block color in an entire look (you can use different shades of the same color) but it was a Saturday and I had nowhere to go except to see the boyfriend, so I didn’t really put much effort into dressing up. Hmm.. that’s an interesting thought, should I have dressed up to play Counter Strike and Pay Day? The correct answer would be NO.

I must commend myself on being innovative enough to not throw away this romper and to re-use them for their, what I like to call, MC Hammer cut. I never really liked it as a tube top since I don’t enjoy showing off my fat arms and bare shoulders all at the same time so pairing them with this black top was close to perfection (for me, of course). On any other day, if we had a night out planned or something, I would’ve worn these with my sleek black stilettos, chunky jewelry and a gold plated belt.

How was your weekend?

Dressing For 2013

To welcome all you fashion fanatics to the new year, I thought I’d do some research on the next big thing in fashion for the year 2013. Especially since I couldn’t sit well with emerald being the pantone of the year- how do they expect me, a morena at its finest, to stomach emerald? I don’t know yet, but I will try my hardest.

In all honesty, I’m not such a big fan of trends. I like to hold off trends until they’ve died down or before they start or hardly at all. Last year, silhouettes were a really big deal and so were detachable collars, tie-dyed bikers shorts and whatnot- all which until now, I own none of. I’ve always been sort of a sloppy dresser, always in something too big or too boyish, if boho ever made it’s comeback, I’d be a shoe-in!

But I made a promise to start dressing more maturely this year. By this I mean, I promised Paolo I would dress more femininely and until now, I am still trying to figure out what the hell that means. And according to my research, if I am going to abide by any trend, 2013 is going to be that year!

PIN UP GIRLS, DRIVING MISS DAISY AND EVERYTHING FANCY SHMANCY!

The 50's are IN and SO AM I!

From the runway

Color palette for 1950's dressing

On other news, here are some of their fashion forecasts:

One way- ALL the way:  Last year’s fashion had to do with a lot of color blocking. Bright hues on top of bright hues and lots of neon. This year, I am glad to say we can all take a break from that a dress down in one colored pieces. Black on black? I am in.

Pattern palooza: I’m guessing this goes beyond the floral patterned pants. I want bold patterned silk pants, I’m thinking Andy Warhol on my jeans and suite then it’ll be a good day!

Futurama drama: If we can’t live it yet (flying cars and teletransporting), then I guess we can always dress it! I guess my metallic pants weren’t such a risqué buy after all. Cannot wait to buy myself these:

Bare-ing it: Mid-riffs, Bralets, Peek-a-boo cut outs. I pass. Or… I baring my back is good enough, right?

In Darkness There Is Light: This year has soo much variety, I’m loving it! We’ve got a lot of mixing and matching going on for this year, folks. There seems to be some romance going on between our brights and blacks- opposites I am willing to work with.
Sporty Spice: 4 words: THIS IS MY YEAR!
Leather It Up: Leather shorts, leather pants, leather skirts, leather dresses, leather tops. I think I just died.
If you’re asking me for my verdict, I would definitely have to say that this year was made for power dressing and making big BIG statements. There is definitely no room for mediocrity when it comes to dressing anymore, people. IT’S TIME TO GO BIG OR GO HOME!

What are you excited for?

Majoritta

[Scarf: H&M, Top: Mosimo, Skinny Slacks: Ayala Department Store. Flats: SM Department Store, Military Jacket: Thrifted]

I love how work is always freezing cold and I can get away with wearing layers and scarves. There are days when I come to work in wool coats and nobody minds because everyone else in their fur lined parkas and trench coats- I die with envy every time.  [Ms. Jan, I mean you!]

If it weren’t for our office weather, I don’t think I would get to use this military-esqe jacket as much as I do, which would be such a shame since I love dressing up like a boy. To play it up and add a bit of femininity, I decided to put on this scarf which I figured would make up for the lack of color I had on this day. It felt like a black day. I do that sometimes.

But what I loved about this top, despite it being black, was the gold studded sleeves which allowed me to create a fairly decent look with or without my jacket on. Naturally, I took off the jacket in between and after work and the simple design didn’t leave me looking plain and lazy. (Even if I really am!)

What do you think of my boyish dressing?

Metallica ϟ

[Top: Thrifted; Pants: July; Flats: Follie]

Bad lighting but I tried my best!

My boyfriend has been giving me beef about buying these pants for quite a while now. I don’t know if a lot of girls do this but, I supposedly have a “list of clothes” that I have prioritized to buy. And then, by some miracle from God, in the middle of an ordinary lunch break *POOF* these metallic pants suddenly appear in my hands out of nowhere! [And we don’t tell our boyfriends’ how much then cost or else we’re dead] And then I have to worry about what shoes and what top to wear with it because it’s a bit too daring even for my weirdness.

And since this was on Christmas, I decided to put them on because I didn’t want our Christmas tree to be the only thing that was shining!

But I Google searched metallic pants and found these, now I’m not feeling so bad :D

Mabye I should've saved these pants for the New Year.  Oh well.
